During the workshops, a number of topics had been reviewed, including; The importance of the participation of citizens, especially young people and women, in the upcoming elections in order to select their representatives in the municipal and governorate councils, in addition to explaining the details of the local administration law to encourage the participation of young people and women in the elections by reducing the candidate age to 25.
The speakers of the workshops also addressed Women’s quota in Jordan and its mechanism, to which the law allocates 25% of the governorate council seats, as well as the municipal council seats to be held by female candidates who obtained the highest votes in relation to the number of voters within their electoral district who were not fortunate to win the direct election.
The participants of the workshops came out with a set of outcomes and recommendations, the most important of which are; encouraging citizens to take a part in the election process through social media and local opinion leaders, and activating the role of civil society institutions in the elections through awareness and organization.
