Further workshops were held to introduce the new Decentralization Law

Information events on "The new Decentralization Law" from March 28, until April 5, 2017 in Al-Taybeh, Jerash, Al-Kora, Ajloun, Al-Mazar and Kuferyouba / Jordan

Further infromation events were held to introduce the new Decentralization Law (see previous article). Only by giving citizens a stake the widespread apathy regarding the political process in general can be overcome. The people need to know the specific benefits that will emerge as a result of the implementation of decentralization.

The role of civil society and building local capacity is important, because decentralization has to follow a bottom up progression. All segments of society needs to be included. Only by working from the ground up and also concentrating on those who have not been able to express their concerns under the current system will genuine decentralization yield tangible results.

The information events, which were conducted in Al-Taybeh (28.03.), Jerash (30.03.), Al-Kora (31.03.), Ajloun (01.04), Al-Mazar (03.04.) and Kuferyouba (05.04.), served to inform a broad public and raise awareness in order to foster participation in the upcoming elections in August 2017.

Futher events will take place in Souf (19.04), Kuferkhal (20.04.), Um Jmal (23.04.) and Jahfieh (25.04.).
