Under the auspices of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, the Arab World Center for Democratic Development and Human Rights, in partnership with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, launched the project “Yes She Can!” in the south of Jordan aiming to contribute to achieving goal five of the sustainable development goals in Jordan, which is to ensure the effective participation of women and their equal opportunities with men in occupying leadership positions at all levels of decision-making in Jordan. The project targets the governorates of Karak, Tafila and Maan.
The Hanns Seidel Stiftung is one of Germany’s political foundations, working in the Service of Democracy, Peace and Development in more than 80 countries worldwide since 1977. Environmental and Climate Change Issues are pivotal to the above mission, resultantly the HSS’ offices in the MENA region (Amman, Cairo, Jerusalem, Rabat andTunis) have been implementing, in partnership with a wide network of local, national and regional partners both from civil society and governments, large number of related activities over the past more than 25 years.
The Arab World Center for Democratic Development and Human Rights, in partnership with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, held a two-days workshop in Irbid entitled: Media outlets and their role in advocacy. This workshop came within the policy of the UniHrd and the HSS in raising awareness and educating all segments of society on issues and topics that concern and affect their daily reality.
The Arab World Center for Democratic Development and Human Rights, in partnership with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, continues to hold a series of workshops on good governance, in which representatives of ministries and a number of youth from different governorates participate.
As the municipal and governorate council elections in Jordan are taking place on 22 March 2022, a National Campaign had been launched by the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Local Administration in partnership with the Arab World Center for Democratic Development and Human Rights and the German Hanns Seidel Stiftung, which comprised a series of workshops on “Enhancing the role of youth and women in the municipal and governorate council elections” were held in Irbid, Mafraq, Aqaba Ajlouon, Tafilal, Zarqa, Madaba, Jerash, Karak, Ma’an and in different areas in the capital Amman.
