In collaboration with the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs (MoPPA) and the Arab World Center for Democratic Development (UNIHRD), the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSS) organized a dialogue session titled “Enhancing Jordanian University Students’ Participation in Political Life” at the University of Jordan. This event marked the first workshop in a series of activities to be implemented across universities in Jordan, aiming to promote political awareness and strengthen civic engagement among students.

The Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdulmonem Al-Oudat, launched the project “Dialogues to Enhance the Participation of Jordanian University Students in Political Life” at the University of Jordan. The project is implemented by the Ministry in partnership with the Arab World Center for Democratic Development and Human Rights, and in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSS), in the presence of the President of the University of Jordan, Professor Nathir Obeidat, alongside academic staff and students.

During the launch, Al-Oudat highlighted that political modernization represents a comprehensive national process aimed at expanding participation and empowering youth as active partners in decision-making, emphasizing the importance of responsible engagement in political and parliamentary life.

Professor Obeidat affirmed the University of Jordan’s role as a national platform for dialogue and critical thinking, stressing the University’s commitment to strengthening students’ participation in public affairs in line with the Royal vision for political development.

Dr. Amira Mustafa, Director of the Arab World Center for Democratic Development and Human Rights, noted that this dialogue session marks the launch of a national series to be implemented in universities across Jordan’s northern, central, and southern regions, beginning with the University of Jordan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

The dialogue session included interactive discussions with students, providing a platform for the exchange of perspectives on political participation and youth engagement. The initiative seeks to contribute to building informed political awareness among university students and to encourage their constructive involvement in public and political life.
