Environmental Dialogue with Mithaq Political Party

As part of its ongoing support for environmental dialogue and efforts to raise awareness about the importance of nature conservation, the Hanns Seidel Foundation - Amman Office in cooperation with The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) and the National Mithaq Party, organized a dialogue session over two days at the Dana Biosphere Reserve.

The event aimed to introduce members of the National Mithaq Party to the vital national role played by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), which operates under a government mandate to establish and manage nature reserves across the country. The session also focused on deepening participants’ understanding of the importance of preserving natural ecosystems and highlighted several key programs implemented in the reserves, including the Ecotourism Program, the Local Community Development Program — which supports socio-economic projects — the Environmental Protection and Law Enforcement Program, and international agreements on environmental protection signed by the Jordanian government.

The party’s strategy on environmental protection was also presented by Dr. Hamzeh Al-Hawamdeh, Chair of the Environment Committee in the Jordanian Parliament and a member of the party’s political bureau.

Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Khas, Chair of the Committee on Partnerships and International Relations, emphasized that this initiative is part of the party’s broader programs aimed at supporting local communities and contributing to the public good.

Participants also visited the Rummana Camp, where they received a detailed overview of the camp’s ecotourism activities. During the visit, they took a guided tour along one of the camp’s eco-trails and learned about several success stories and income-generating projects led by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature.
