'Women in Dialogue' - 'Freedom of Choice and Action' - Visit of the Head of the Devision Middle East, North Africa to the Women Group Saeedieh Village, April 25, 2016 / Jordan

On 25th of April 2016 Mrs. Mayryam Schmidt has visited the women group in Saeedieh and took the opportunity for extensive discussions with the participants, who reported on their personal situation and the benefit and impact they gained by participating in the programs.

The third women group participating in the 'Women in Dialogue' is from Saeedieh Village, a small village located nearby the Zaatari Camp. The seminars are conducted in the premises of the 'Child Care Charity Association'.

Mrs. Maryam Schmidt, Head of the Devision Middle East, North Africa of the Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung in Munich was traveling from 18 until 27 April 2016 to Jordan and Lebanon. On 25th of April 2016 Mrs. Schmidt has visited the women group in Saeedieh and took the opportunity for extensive discussions with the participants, who reported on their personal situation and the benefit and impact they gained by participating in the programs.

Furthermore Mrs. Schmidt was briefed by the Director of the 'Child Care Charity Association', Mr. Al-Masaeed about the off-camp refugee situation in the host community and how it has affected the local Jordanian population. He has given a review of key challenges facing the community, such as root causes leading to conflicts, lack of integration between Syrians and Jordanians, lack of support to people with disabilities, problems with access to education and school drop-outs, violence among youth, emerging drug problem, etc.

During a visit to the surrounding community Mrs. Schmidt has met Syrian families followed by a debriefing session at the Society building and further discussion with Syrian and Jordanian community representatives.
