Young people make up the largest part of Jordan’s fast growing population, presenting both possibilities and challenges for the future. If Jordan makes significant strategic investments in human capital, job creation and other necessary policies, it could collect a “demographic dividend” over the next four decades. This could double the working population. However, if the situation remains unaddressed, high unemployment and deep pockets of poverty and disenfranchisement will persist.
The youth in Jordan are facing many challenges, and there is no trust between the local community and the government. UniHRD and HSS are dealing and working with youth in all its activities and workshops. The workshop titled "Youth participation in local governance in Jordan", which took place on the 18th of April 2018 in Madaba (the second of its kind, a similar workshop was conducted on the 8th of March 2018 in Irbid) was a follow-up of the workshops organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs - MoPPA in various governorates on "The role of the local community in activating the role of the governorates council’s".
