Information events on 'The new Decentralization Law', March 10 - 26, 2017 in Maan, Tafileh, Wadi Moussa, Kerak, Aqaba, Azraq, Madaba/Um Al Rasas, Mwagar, Salt and Mafraq / Jordan
The Decentralization Law, which came into force in 2016, is a key cornerstone of the reform process pursued by King Abdullah II since 2011 in Jordan. On the basis of the adopted law, elections will be held at the level of the governorates, for the first time in Jordan, in August 2017.
The "Ministry for Political and Parliamentary Affairs - MoPA" is responsible for the introduction of the new law and for informing the population with the aim of winning them for participation in the elections. The Hanns Seidel Stiftung in Jordan in cooperation with the "Arab World Center for Democratic Development - UniHRD" supports the work of the Ministry.
