Based on the need identified during the previous workshops (see article) that had targeted major wildlife importers, exporters and national traders in the first half of 2018, and the frequent requests and questions about the necessary procedures of the Secretariat of the CITES Convention to combat illegal wildlife trading, RSCN and HSS conducted a two-day workshop from August 28 – 29, 2018 at the Le Grand Amman Hotel for a selected group of traders, exporters, importers, responsible border staff and Ministry employees about the best practices that can be adopted in Jordan to increase the effectiveness of legal international trading of wildlife species of both Fauna and Flora while implementing related laws and regulations.

The main objective of this workshop was to clarify CITES procedures among all related stakeholders and to jointly identify gaps and obstacles for their application. At the end, a “Working Group” was formed with representatives of RSCN, the customs authorities, the Ministry of Agriculture and traders to follow-up and to implement the developed recommendations.
